Spaghetti sauce, dirt, poop! Any suggestions for getting stains out of my toddler’s clothes? I’d like her clothes to last longer and would even like to hand them down.

You can buy Stain Devil pre-treatments from any excellent retailer, or if you’re more into ancient fashioned household remedies, try half a cup of distilled white vinegar in with your wash.

Use stain sticks right after they get them dirty (after you take them off the kid). Let them soak and use the warmest water possible.

I’ve gotten all of those stains and others out using the Spray-n-Wash stain stick. It is terrific.

I use purex non-chlorine bleach for colors…in a light-blue bottle. It works very well on poop and blood, but didn’t take out spaghetti sauce completely.

Dawn dish soap is my life saver.. once you get a stain run it under warm water and add dawn dish soap on the spots rub it together and wash, it works fantastic and it has been saving my sons clothes for a long time..

Spray and Wash Dual Action for cloured clothes and the Chlorox Bleach Pen for white clothes.

Oxiclean works miracles…..I have been through a billion stains..lol…there is also baby oxiclean you can get it at toys r us

I use resolve, spray and wash, and clorox for colors.

Oxyclean. It is expensive, but it gets the stains out.

I spray all stains with shout before i wash them and then anything that still has spots after the wash I soak in a specail solution. The solution is fantastic on colors but avoid items with navy or black because it does fade them. and make sure you still the clothing in the solution about every 30 minutes and check the item to see if stains remain. When the stains are gone you throw it back in the wash. It is fantastic it even works on ancient stains.

Solution:

1 gallon hot water
1/4 cup bleach
1/2 cup cascade (dish washing powder)

Milk or Egg Products
Rinse well in cool water. Presoak with detergent and powdered Clorox 2ฎ in cool or warm water. Follow Package directions for dissolving bleach. Launder in cold water with detergent and Clorox liquid bleach.

Baby Formula
Soak in cool water. Pretreat with Stain Out or bar soap and rub gently. Wash with detergent and Clorox bleach, or Clorox 2.

Coffee, Tea, Wine, Soft Drinks
Pretreat with liquid Clorox 2. Launder straight away with detergent and Clorox liquid bleach in hottest water recommended for fabric.

Crayons
To remove crayola stains, the Crayola Company recommends: Place the stained surface down on a pad of paper towels, spray with WD-40, and let stand for a few minutes. Turn the fabric over and spray the other side. Apply liquid dishwashing detergent and work into the stained area. Replace towels as they absorb the stain. Wash in hot water with a laundry detergent and bleach for about 12 minutes (use “heavy soiled” setting if there is no minute timer on your machine), and rinse in warm water.

Diaper Stains, Vomit
Rinse off soils. Follow presoak instructions (see sidebar). Launder in hottest water safe for fabric with appropriate bleach, To kill bacteria that contribute to diaper rash, add liquid bleach to the wash cycle.

Vitamins, Liquid Pain Relievers
Pretreat and let sit for 5 minutes. Launder in hottest water possible, using appropriate bleach.

Mayonnaise, Mustard, Salad Dressing
Pretreat, launder in hottest water safe for fabric, using appropriate bleach.

Step1Is your toddler constantly spilling things on their clothes? Granted you have the opportunity when they do this, automatically apply stain remover to the spill and let soak for but long the bottle says. Wash according to the directions and you can keep the stains out.

Step2Many parents line dry their toddlers clothing in dread of the dryer shrinking them. This is nearly always the case. The dryer shrinks their clothes and you are left buying more clothes once again.

Step3Keep hangers by your washer. This way after you do a load of your toddlers clothing you can automatically hang their clothing to dry. You can also throw them in the dryer on the fluff setting after they have dried to get any wrinkles out. You can add a dryer sheet for softness as well.

Step4Try to keep the closets full of seasonal clothing. If it is winter, store their summer clothing. Using a plastic storage container, place their summer/winter clothing inside. Add a dryer sheet or two for freshness if you like and then seal and store.

Step5You can use something other than a storage container, this is just a fantastic way to keep bugs and other critters from chewing the stored clothing. Tight sealed containers help prevent this.

Vanish powder (I am in UK – do you have this where you are?) You only need half a scoop and it gets anything out. Also, it does not seem to aggravate my son’s excezma, and works at lowq temperature. Make sure you wash things as soon as possible after soiling occurs.

Amway makes this incredible stuff that is for ‘protein’ stains (blood, etc)…..sorry, it has been YEARS since I have had to use it, but it was absolutely incredible! Check your phone book for a dealer, I am sure they will know what I am talking about. My oldest son was VERY rough playing baseball and was always cutting his knees plus we had red clay dirt (Southwest US)…..this stuff got it all out.

Shout, Shout and More Shout.
I also use Oxi-Clean.
Most of the time it works, unless they’re really terrible ones!

There;s a product by Spray and Wash (I reckon it’s Spray and Wash!) that has 2 chambers– a pink side and a clear side. When you squeeze it out, the 2 mix together. Anyhow, I have used that to get everything out of my kids’ stuff. Tomato sauce and poop come out easily without fading the garments. Even got cherry juice out of a white dress!

Oxy clean stain remover, in the spray bottle, always works for me.
